Rural Heritage Development Initiative - Central Kentucky Cultural Survey:
A Partnership Between Folk Studies Graduate Students and Community Scholars
During the fieldwork process I worked on a team with fellow graduate students Aimee Briley and Mike Mathews to conduct fieldwork in Boyle and Washington Counties. We worked both separately and together to make contacts and conduct interviews with people living in the counties. Working in connection with Community Scholar Bev Cox, I had the opportunity to interview a few women involved in the Boyle County Homemakers Club. I have included samples of this fieldwork below.

Marthetta Clark
Marthetta Clark is a member of the Boyle County Homemaker’s club and designs and creates a variety of jackets, aprons, and purses. She enters her work in both the Boyle County Fair and art shows in the Danville area.

Teresa Martin
Teresa Martin is a member of the Boyle County Homemaker’s club and a quilter, seamstress, and raiser of many pet goats and chickens.

Roberta Traynor
Roberta Traynor is a member of the Boyle County Homemaker’s club. She grows all her own vegetables and cans a variety of relishes, vegetables, and salsas. Her canned goods win ribbons every year at the Boyle County Fair.
